Autumn Colors in Northern Minnesota

I have a lot of fond memories of Autumn...college at Ohio State University with all the football festivities and new classes, to eating bountiful harvest, to halloween costumes and parties at work, to Thanksgiving with family, to crisp cool mornings and awesome hikes in the dry woods complete with dry leaves crackling underneath. This is the time when birds migrate through on their way south and once again I get to catch a glimpse of white throated sparrows, juncos, a variety of warblers, and up here lots of variety of hawks flying over the Lake Superior corridor and riding the thermals. I cant forget the night and early morning sounds of flocks of Canada geese moving through, their honks and cries adding a touch of nostaligia in the air. Out in the woods ruffed grouse thump and rustle in the brush, bears are out and about searching for food (lots of reports from campers this year having problems with bears), dear are getting restless in anticipation of the hunting season. They make their way out of the deep woods and into town about now. I live in the middle of a city, in a suburb, and in the dead of winter whole groups of deer visit my yard looking for rotted apples that have fallen from my apple tree. They are fun to watch but also leave a mess of poop and eat on my vine and tree shrubbs. Speaking of the vine...my boyfriend and I planted this vine 10 years ago and it has really blossomed over the years, despite being eaten by the deer. I love to take pics of it in the Autumn as it changes color. Hope you enjoy these photos. I dont know what kind of vine we have offhand. Its been so long since we bought it I cant remember. The photos of the trees are actually from several years ago but are so magnificant I want to share them now. My boyfriend took those pics.

So grab some hot apple cidar or munch on an apple or sip some pumpkin soup and enjoy!
