A few months ago I was cleaning my kitchen. Now, I have two parakeets and two society finches and sometimes, when our dog Sable is not around, I let them out to fly around for a bit of exercise. Mostly they stay close to their cages. On this particular day, I lost track of time and was sidetracked and suddenly remembered my birds were out. I came out to the dining room and accounted for all of them except Ricci. I could not find her anywhere! After 20 mintues of frantically searching the house for this bright yellow bird, I heard a shuffle coming from the knick knack shelves by the stairs. And after scanning the shelves I found her! She was posing, as still as can be, trying to blend in with the other knick knacks. And she almost had me fooled! I laughed so hard it hurt and I had to take this photograph. Birds are a hoot!
